My new camera came today! I am SO excited. It is amazing. I totally love it. I got the Sony a330 and three lenses. The kit I got came with an 18-55mm and and 55-200mm lens. I also got the Sony 50mm f/1.8 lens because I wanted one with a super low aperture. I wasn’t sure how it would go without a zoom on it, but so far, I have no complaints…I LOVE this lens.
I still have a lot to learn with it, but I’m seriously in love… check out these pictures. They were just silly (mostly of baby joy eating her snack). I didn’t do any setup for a real photo shoot at all – she had just had a bath and her hair was still wet. I just sat her down and took pictures of her…and I think they are amazing.
I love this first shot in both color and sepia, and can’t choose between them…so you get both.
This one just cracks me up. I love the intensity in her eyes. You know what she’s doing? Dancing (side to side) while eating strawberries…because she’s her mama’s daughter. Who doesn’t dance while eating strawberries?
I love the blurry background. You can’t even tell that the background in this one is my kitchen cabinets. Love it!
I love the black and white one too… it’s too hard to pick between them.
I heart my low aperture lens. Big time.
– A very happy me
[…] So, I know that I’m still a novice, but I’m so impressed with my photos that I just randomly took today with my new camera. No special photo shoot or anything…just shots of my girl. And, I barely did any editing on them. If you want to check them out, they are here: https://viewpointimages.wordpress.com/2009/08/11/first-pictures/. […]
Great photos. I just bought my first DSLR and am learning the ropes as well. Sounds like I need to get a low aperature lens. Your photos look fantastic.

hey kellie….great job with your new camera. i got your link from mera’s blog. so glad that you’ve got a great camera to capture all those great moments of your darling daughter. enjoy it!
take care.
Congrats on your camera, I know exactly how you feel!!!
I just got a new Nikon and I love it…And I love the quality. I started with a Canon SLR around 15 years ago and then the digital age came and so I “moved up”. The funny thing is that i preferred the quality of my pictures from the SLR(film) than the digital. It got to a point though where it cost way to much to do pictures and buy film, get them developed and order prints. I ended up with a Kodak digital point n shoot, which was fine for the time being since I couldn’t afford a digital SLR. So for a couple of years, I would salivate over everyone’s camera. I finally saved up enough to get me a camera that I love and the prints are FANTASMIC!
Keep taking pictures, I would love to see what your camera can do and your creativity!
Wonderful work! Keep going girlfriend!

I was looking at the sony a33, you refer to a kit ?? also I love the blurry backgrounds with the low aperature lens..I only do this for fun and on a budget, any recomendation for a lens that would do that, without breaking the bank??
